Thamban Kambrath took the initiative to establish Lasyakalakshetra in 1993, with the support of P Appukkuttan, Rev Dr. Thomas Panaykkal, K M Thampi and M.Divakaran.

Thamban is a native of Kannur district and has been actively involved as an artist in drama, makeup, light control, and dance. He learned about dance from Kambrath Madhavan and Sir Vibhavasu. He was groomed into a make up artist by artists such as Ramachandran, Gopi Annur and Koratty Babu. At present Thamban Kambrath is the secretary of Lasyakalakshetra .
