Pilathara lies between Payyanur and Taliparamba on NH- 17. It is 36 km North of Kannur and 10 km South of Payyanur Railway Station. For those who come by flight, nearby airports are Kannur [51 km] ,(Mangalore [145km] and Calicut [155km]. Those who come from South by rail can get off either at Kannur Railway Station or at Payyanur Railway Station or Pazayangadi Railway Station and then take a bus or taxi to Pilathara. Those from the North can also get off at Payyanur Railway Station and reach by bus/taxi at Pilathara. There are enough buses at frequent intervals between Kannur and Payyanur. All these touch Pilathara. Lasya is situated at the heart of Pilathara.
